BCST is a holistic approach that supports the body's natural tendency towards self-healing and regulation - homeostasis or Balance.
Simply put, when our bodies feel safe and supported in connection, we can relax a little more, feel a little more, and tune into the sensations of life within and around us.
In the theraputic environment, this means we begin to increase our capacity to access, understand and support our own inherent healing potential.
BCST has evolved through the discoveries made in the field of Osteopathy.
Craniosacral refers to the organisation of the body along the midline of the spine, from the cranium, down the spine to the sacrum and tail bone.
Biodynamic describes the field of connection that spreads outwards from this centre, through the body and into the surrounding environment.
BCST uses a featherlight contact that allows the therapist to sense subtle movements in the client's body and to support the health of the whole person.
I have a dedicated practice space where I live. It's on the ground floor and leads out to a small garden, with plenty of light.
Having spent some time checking in to explore how life is going and what you are bringing with you to the session, we would move to the treatment table where you can rest on your back, fully clothed.
One of the gifts of BCST is time. We slow down and allow ourselves the space we need to adjust and orient to the environment, and to notice the subtle changes in our experience.
Once settled, I will ask if it would be ok to make some physical contact, often starting with the feet.
From here I will begin to listen the natural flows and rhythms of the body - your physiology - keeping in communication with you all the while to see how you're responding.
The treatment continues in this way for around 45 minutes, with the contact moving from the feet to other areas of the body, often under the head, around the shoulders, or in support of the spine, limbs and organs.
There is time at the end to integrate and reflect.

As a unified organism, every part of our body responds according to the requirements of the whole.

The whole narrative of our lives, with its complex network of relationships, is expressed through our bodies as sensation.
